WHAT IS THE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN?
Gilbert is changing – more people and businesses are moving here every day, new parks and trails are being created, and the mobility needs of Gilbert are increasing. To provide our residents, visitors, and businesses with a transportation network that works for their unique needs, we need to face our transportation future now. Ultimately, the Gilbert Transportation Master Plan will guide the development of our streets, walking and biking facilities, trails, and public transportation system for the next 20-years.
WHY IS THIS PLAN BEING DEVELOPED?
Since the completion of the last Transportation Master Plan in 2014, Gilbert has seen major changes in its land use, population, and transportation system. Building on the previous Transportation Master Plan, this Plan will reexamine how we use our transportation system today and tomorrow and develop an action plan for future transportation investments to support community growth over the next two decades.
WHAT ARE THE STEPS INVOLVED IN CREATING THE TRANSPORTATION MASTER PLAN?
The final Transportation Master Plan is scheduled to be completed by November 2021 and follows a multi-phased planning process. Upon completion of the Draft Transportation Master Plan in the fall of 2021, the plan will be presented to Town Council for approval.
